Filters, mailboxes, list templates, and action trees

An action tree processes mailboxes in a standardized manner (such as "user" or "journal"). This is only possible if the mailbox catalog contains these mailboxes and they are enabled for the desired processing types. The SMTP address is generally used to reference the cataloged mailbox in the action tree.

As an alternative to the specific reference via the SMTP address, action trees also accept the names of configured catalog filters. This allows you to select mailboxes dynamically in the action tree. Internally, each mailbox that has been added to the mailbox catalog via this filter is selected.

Another way to configure mailboxes for use in an action tree is to reference a list template. You can create list templates for message classes, folder filters, and mailboxes as a central template for an instance. The list template for mailboxes is equivalent to configuring a mailbox in an action tree directly.

Action trees can therefore use list templates, which in turn use direct (SMTP addresses) or indirect/dynamic (catalog filters) references. You can also use list templates in an action tree to configure direct and indirect mailbox references. ELOxc collects the configured mailboxes for each action tree. These are sorted alphabetically.

Please note: Duplicate mailboxes are always processed in the first way, because the second time a mailbox is entered, it is ignored.
