Welcome
The ELOxc module
ELOxc for Microsoft EWS is an e-mail life cycle management solution that retrieves e-mail messages from a Microsoft Exchange Server and stores them in the ELO repository. From the repository, the messages can be retrieved, used in company processes, viewed by other employees with appropriate permissions, and more.
Specification
Two versions of ELOxc are available, distinguished from one another based on the communications protocol used to retrieve messages. ELOxc MAPI was developed first and is described in a different manual. This manual describes ELOxc for Microsoft EWS, which is a completely redesigned program that uses the Exchange Web Services protocol to store Exchange items in ELO.
ELOxc for Microsoft EWS will be referred to in the following as ELOxc or ELOxc EWS.
Contents of the manual
This manual contains several chapters to aid you in using the product. The present chapter provides some general information about ELOxc EWS and general information about the manual.
Chapter 2, Preparation and installation, describes what you need to do before, during, and after installing ELOxc EWS to use the software successfully.
Chapter 3, ELOxc Console, describes the interface and operation of the ELOxc Console web-based graphical interface. The second half of the chapter describes the available node (action) types and how to use them within the console.
Chapter 4, Sample action trees, describes how to create several types of action trees that can be used to work with e-mails in ELOxc.
Chapter 5, ELOxc applications in detail, describes each of the executable files provided with ELOxc EWS and how to use them.
Chapter 6, Troubleshooting, describes some possible areas where you may run into problems when installing and running ELOxc EWS, along with ways to fix them.
Chapter 7, the Appendix, contains a summary of revisions to the document, some PowerShell commands that can be useful in an ELOxc environment, and other general information.
Additional references
In addition to this guide, some other documentation can help use ELOxc effectively. The ELOxc Technical Reference can be reached in the ELOxc Console. It provides a complete list of configuration options and required syntax for an ELOxc instance. In addition, the Exchange Server Protocols Master Property List ([MS-OXPROPS]) contains a complete list of Exchange properties, which is essential to storing information from e-mail messages to ELO keywording forms.
Target audience
This manual is designed for use by system administrators who are familiar with Exchange environment administration and who ideally also have experience with ELOxc MAPI. If you are unfamiliar with Exchange administration, please contact ELO Consulting or your ELO partner before proceeding. ELO Digital Office GmbH is not responsible for data loss or other damages arising from an incorrect ELOxc configuration being put into productive operation.
