Updating ELOxc

This section provides notes on updating an installed ELOxc for Microsoft EWS to the current version.

This section does not describe how to switch from ELOxc MAPI to ELOxc EWS.

The instructions shown here can be performed in any order before putting the update into productive operation.

ELOxc.exe

Run the following command from the Windows command line running with administrator permissions:

<ELOxc directory>\ELOxc.exe -update -port:<service port> -logdir:<log directory>

Replace <ELOxc directory> with your ELOxc installation directory. Replace <service port> and <log directory> with corresponding information as well. This scans the ELOxc configuration, updating it as necessary.

However, you should still check the configuration after the update to make sure all settings are correct. Every time an instance is updated, an update log is written.

Licensing

In ELOxc 10, you must enter your license number to the ELOxc Tools application or via the command line. In previous versions of the software, the license number was entered to the instance definition.

The command to update the license via the command line is as follows:

<ELOxc directory>\ELOxc.exe -config -serial "<serial>"

Replace <serial> with the ELOxc serial number. Make sure the serial number is enclosed in quote marks.

Information: An ELOxc EWS license is valid per ELO Access Manager. All Indexservers, ELOxc instances, and so on that connect to the repository through one Access Manager will share the same license.

Registry

ELOxc for Microsoft EWS version 9 stores configuration information in HKLM\Software\ELO Digital\ELOxc9. If you are upgrading from this version to version 10, you must change the final key in this sequence to ELOxc.

If you are upgrading from ELOxc EWS 10.00 to 10.04, the information in the registry is written to a file named ELOxc.xml, which is saved to the ELOxc installation directory. ELOxc reads its configuration information from this file.

Cache

When upgrading to version 10, you should delete the Active Directory cache file at <ELOxc>\zzzCache{AD|PS}.txt. Replace <ELOxc> with your ELOxc EWS installation directory.
