Proper public folder setup
Problem: Public folders are not processed as desired in my environment. I am unable to access the folders, or some public folders are missing after an ELOxc processing run.
Public foldersPlease note: Public folders should not be confused with journaling mailboxes, which work differently from each other. See the Microsoft documentation for more information about public folders in Exchange.
Solution: There are a few points that must be taken into account when storing public folders that differ from filing other types of folders in Exchange to ELO.
(1) In the ELOxc action tree, the ItemsTreeDef node must be set to Public folders:
(2) After selecting the Public folders mailbox type, enter the User Principal Name of the impersonating service account.
ELOxc automatically accesses the public folders that the impersonating service account has access to. If you are using ELOxc EWS in a mixed Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 environment, you must set up a separate e-mail account on both servers:
An e-mail account created for access to public folders on an Exchange 2010 server cannot access public folders on an Exchange 2013 server, and the reverse is also true.
Additionally, the service account must have access rights to the public folders on both Exchange servers.
