Edit tile

You can customize tiles in ELO to your individual requirements.

Information: Different settings are available depending on the type of tile you want to edit.

Tile settings

To edit a tile, you usually need to switch to the Tile settings. Proceed as follows:

1. Right-click the tile to open the context menu.

2. Click Settings.

This opens the Tile settings pane. You are now in tile editing mode.

Information: Clicking another tile when you are in editing mode for a particular tile opens the settings for that tile.

Edit name

You can change the name of tiles that you created (view filters and tasks view filters).

The following example shows how this is done with a view filter tile.

1. Open the Tile settings pane as described above.

2. Click Edit view filter.

This opens the Edit view filter dialog box. The cursor is positioned in the Name field and the text is selected.

3. Type in the new name.

The old name will be overwritten.

Alternative: If you don't want the name to be overwritten, first click the Name field and then make the changes you want.

4. Confirm with OK.

The dialog box now closes. The name of the tile changes.

5. Click the arrow pointing left to close the Tile settings.

Change color

You can change the color of all tiles.

The following example shows how this is done with a view filter tile.

1. Open the Tile settings pane as described above.

2. Select the desired color in the Color options.

The color of the tile changes.

3. Click the arrow pointing left to close the Tile settings.

Change icon

You can change the icon that is used for the tile in the majority of cases.

1. Open the Tile settings pane as described above.

2. Select the desired icon in the Icon options.

The tile icon changes.

3. Click the arrow pointing left to close the Tile settings.

Change size

You can change the size of all tiles.

The following example shows how this is done with a view filter tile.

1. Open the Tile settings pane as described above.

2. Select one of two Size options:

  • Large: The tile is square.
  • Small: The smaller tile is rectangular and half the size of the large tile.

The size of the tile changes.

3. Click the arrow pointing left to close the Tile settings.

Options

You can select different options depending on the type of tile you are editing.

The following example shows how this is done with a view filter tile.

1. Open the Tile settings pane as described above.

2. Click the desired check boxes to enable the various Options:

  • Pinned to the navigation bar: Click this option to pin the tile to the navigation bar.
  • Show number of entries: When this option is enabled, the number of entries in a particular area is displayed at the top right of the tile.
  • Diagram view: When you enable this option, a circular diagram is depicted on the tile. Depending on the entries in that particular work area or view filter, the diagram is made up of several segments in different colors. The colors relate to the font color selected for the entries.

Information: The Diagram view option only works when the tile size is set to Large.

The selected options are applied.

3. Click the arrow pointing left to close the Tile settings.

Keyboard shortcut

You can assign a keyboard shortcut to any tile.

1. Open the Tile settings pane as described above.

2. Click the Keyboard shortcut has not been assigned button.

The button label changes to Enter the desired keyboard shortcut.

3. Enter the desired keyboard shortcut, e.g. ALT GR + E.

Information: Make sure that you don't use a keyboard shortcut that has already been assigned. An error message will appear if the keyboard shortcut is already being used in ELO. The keyboard shortcut will not be saved in this case.

Keyboard shortcuts that are in use in other programs will not be assigned either. However, you will not see an error message in such cases.

The keyboard shortcut is now displayed on the button label and can be used for the tile in question.

4. Click the arrow pointing left to close the Tile settings.

Editing via the context menu

Each tile has a context menu that is opened by right-clicking the tile.

You can make the following tile settings straight from the tile's context menu.

  • Pin to the navigation bar or Unpin from the navigation bar
  • Shrink tile or Enlarge tile
  • Hide

Information: Hidden tiles are moved to the Hidden tiles group. To restore the tile, drag it to the target location in the tile navigation.
