Program interface in detail

The individual areas of the program interface are briefly explained in the following.

(1) My ELO button

Click the My ELO button to open the My ELO work area. The My ELO work area is on the start page of the ELO repository.

(2) Ribbon

The ribbon provides access to almost all ELO functions. In the My ELO work area, the ribbon is minimized. As soon as you switch to another work area, the ribbon is maximized and you can access the various functions.

The ribbon has four standard tabs and two contextual tabs.

The standard tabs are:

  • Start
  • Document
  • View
  • Tasks

The contextual tabs are:

  • Search (opens after clicking the Search work area)
  • Clipboard (opens when copying, referencing or moving entries in ELO)

Information: You can show or hide the ribbon by double-clicking the tab.

(2a) Search for function

Use this field to search for functions on the ribbon. You will only be shown functions that are available in the specific context. Click the downward-facing triangle icon to open a drop-down menu with the available functions.

(3) Navigation bar

The navigation bar gives you quick access to several areas in the ELO repository and tells you which area you are currently in. You can pin tiles to the navigation bar.

(4) User account button

You can open the ELO menu via the User account button. The following menu items are located in the ELO menu:

  • Configuration: Open the configuration page to adjust the settings for the ELO Web Client.
  • Change password: Call up the dialog box for changing your password here.
  • About: Opens the About dialog box. You can find information on the client version used and the serial number here.
  • Web Client help: Use the Web Client help button to open the ELO help pages.
  • Log off: Use this menu item to log off from the ELO Web Client.

(5) Quick launch icons

You have access to a selection of functions via the quick launch icons. You only see all quick launch icons when you hide the ribbon. The Maximize/minimize preview button is always shown. You can add additional icons via the ELO Web client configuration. You can find more information on this in the Administration chapter.

(5a) Maximize preview

Use the Maximize preview button to hide the ribbon, the work area bar and the tree view.

(6) News

Feed posts from different entries are automatically displayed in the News tab. This applies to feeds such as those that a particular user has subscribed to or in which the particular user is mentioned by another user. In addition, trending hashtags, escalated or recently started workflows that are relevant for the user are also shown in this work area.

(7) Tile navigation

The tile navigation contains all available tiles. Tiles can be used to represent work areas, view filters, and ELO apps. The following tiles are shown by default:
