Search functions
The ELO Client for Microsoft Outlook offers you a number of search options. Click the Search tab below the repository pane to open the search work area.
Alternative: If you are working in the Repository work area, you can perform a search via the search bar in a standard input field above the list view.
iSearch
The dialog box appears in the list view. The following search options are available on two tabs: iSearch and Search keywording.
Search, iSearchiSearchSearch, keywordingKeywording, searchSearch, logAt the same time, the ELO search tab appears in the ribbon. You can refine your search and define further search options on this tab. The following areas are available on the ELO search tab:
Keywording search: Click Search keywording to open the keywording search.
iSearch area: Select which areas of the repository you wish to search. Entire repository searches the entire repository, Current folder only searches the folder selected in the repository tree, and Child folders only searches the selected folder and its child folders.
iSearch filters: Refines your search and filters by various criteria, such as sender, recipient, date, keywording form, object type, or index field. Click More to add further iSearch filters. The filters added then appear below the standard input field.
iSearch options: Click Search Outlook to search the Outlook Inbox in addition to the ELO repository. The Search options button opens a dialog box. Here, enable and disable check boxes to select the fields that will be searched with the standard input field.
Information: If the Version comment and version number check box is enabled in the Search options, only the working version comment is searched.
Search: Click Recently used searches to open a drop-down menu containing the most recent search queries. Use the Favorites button to call up, add, and manage your search favorites.
Close: Click Close search to close the ELO Search tab. This button is only shown when you perform a search using the search bar in the Repository work area. When you close the tab, the search results are saved, available in the Search work area.
Example search with iSearch
The following section uses an example to show how a search can be performed using iSearch.
We want to search for e-mails with a specific short name from a specific sender that were filed within a defined time frame. We then want to save the search as a favorite.
1. Click Search on the work area toolbar to start an iSearch.
The ELO search tab appears.
2. Click Entire repository to search the entire repository.
3. Click Search Outlook to search the Outlook Inbox in addition to the ELO repository.
4. To search for the short name Invoice, for example, enter the term in the default input field. A drop-down menu provides suggestions while you enter a search term. Confirm the search term by clicking the magnifying glass.
The search results are displayed grouped into the ELO (results in the ELO repository) and Outlook tabs.
5. Restrict the search to entry type E-mail. Click the Entry type button.
The Entry type filter appears in the input field with a placeholder in parentheses, highlighted in blue.
6. Select the desired entry type (here: E-mail) from the drop-down list that automatically opens. The object type is entered in parentheses. Confirm the search filter by clicking the magnifying glass.
The search results appear.
7. Restrict your search using the From filter. Enter the desired sender into the area between the parentheses and start the search.
The search results of the combined filter search appear.
8. Click the Add button to set an additional filter. Select the Date filter from the drop-down menu.
An additional search field appears below the standard input field.
9. Click the triangle icon next to the search field to select the predefined time frames for the Date filter.
The list with the predefined time frames for the Date filter appears.
You can also enter a time frame of your choice.
10. Enter the time frame in the Date search field. In this example, enter April 2016 manually.
The search results appear. In this example, a hit is returned on the ELO tab. You have completed the example search.
Optional: You can refine the filters for the list view or use alternative filters.

2. Enter a value in the Filter text field.
The condition field automatically changes to Contains.
Optional Click Reset to delete the filter text. The condition Contains reverts back to No filter.
3. Click the triangle to the right of the Condition field.
You can select the available conditions for this index field from a drop-down menu.
Information: The available conditions vary according to the selected index field.
Add favorite
To save the search settings, save your search as a favorite.

The Add favorite dialog box appears.
2. Enter a suitable name for the favorite.
In the drop-down menu under the Favorites button, you will now find the search favorite you created.
Search keywording
Keywording forms contain information to describe and structure documents and folders in more detail. Therefore, various keywording forms are also used for various document types. Often, a search using the keywording forms provides a more detailed result than the ELO search.

The Search keywording dialog box appears.
The Search is active by default. You can also search in the Extra text. In Options, you can find additional search options, which are explained below.
2. Click a keywording form in the left column to select it.
3. Enter your search term to the relevant input field.
If you have not selected a search form, ELO searches for the requested search term in all keywording forms.
4. Click OK.
The search starts.
The search results appear as a table below Search - Search keywording.
Extra text: Here you can search the keywording form extra texts.
Search, extra textOptions: Here you can search keywording information that has been captured automatically. This includes the object type, date, expiration date, and user. You can also restrict the search to certain folders in the ELO repository here. Entering AND or OR allows you to link or exclude search terms.
