ELOxc is a Windows service that enables you to transfer data from an Exchange server to an ELO repository. ELOxc recognizes the Exchange servers as a source server. A catalog lists the mailboxes. Individual mailbox folders are regarded as message folders. Individual Exchange messages are regarded as messages. ELOxc processes all catalogs based on messages, which is called message processing.

The objective of processing messages is to find message collections, identify messages to be archived, and subsequently transfer them to the ELO repository according to general and flexible processing rules, so-called actions. The service usually has a central configuration, which runs processes in the background independently of the single workstation user.
