Instances

An ELOxc instance always has a unique name during a service installation, is bound to a server type, and always requires a compatible configuration version. At the same time, the configuration fragment of the instance ("InstanceDef") is the root of all other configuration fragments belonging to the instance.

Instance, configure

You register instances in ELOxc Workspace.

1. On the ELOxc Workspace home screen, click the Add instance button.

A new line appears in the list of instances.

2. Enter any name for the instance followed by your ELO account and password, then click the confirmation icon.

The new instance has been created and shows up in the overview of instances. The message Load error also appears, since you have not completed the configuration yet.

The basic configuration of the new instance is stored in the program directory in the file ELOxc.xml. The following values are stored in this file: Name of the instance, Indexserver URL, user name, and password.

ELOxc.xml determines the scope of registered ELOxc instances on a system and is evaluated at each service start. The connection to the ELO repository is based on these parameters alone. The XML file also contains the corresponding configuration.

Please note: The instances you create are the basis for the configuration structure in the ELO repository. A folder with the name of the new instance is created in the repository path //Administration//ELOxc Base//SERVICE and //Administration//ELOxc Base//WORKSPACE. If the instance is deleted at some point, only the relevant entry is removed from ELOxc.xml, while the configuration structures in the repository are moved to the path //Administration//ELOxc Base//BACKUP.

You can access the following functions via buttons in the instance overview.

1: Start or stop the selected instance. The status of the instance is displayed next to the button.

2: Register the instance. The instance registration consists of an ELO Indexserver URL and an associated ELO account. After clicking the button, enter the user name and password, then click the confirmation icon. This saves your changes to the instance registration.

3: Delete the selected instance. Deleted instances can no longer be used. The instance configuration will be moved to the backup area.

4: Edit the instance configuration. Click the button to open the instance configuration. For more information, refer to the Instance configuration chapter.

5: Click this button to copy the configuration from the WORKSPACE area to the SERVICE area. You need to stop the instance before you do so.

6: Click this button to view the processing statistics for the instance.
