Search for multiple terms in different areas
This dialog box provides information on the behavior of ELO iSearch when using multiple search terms in different areas.
ELO iSearch allows you to search in different areas: the full text content, the metadata, and the ELO feed.
For technical reasons and to improve search performance, these areas cannot be searched in combination. This means that you may get an unexpected result when searching for multiple terms. In this case, the ELO iSearch only lists results that include all search terms in the same area.
Example
Let's assume a document exists containing the term "study" in the short name and the term "survey" appears in the document text. Now, if you search the Full text and Metadata areas for the terms "study" and "survey", ELO iSearch may not find any matching results. However, if you searched for one of the terms, you would get matching results.
Apply filter
When searching in multiple areas, we recommend initially only searching for one term and then narrowing down the search result using filters.
For example, apply the All fields filter to restrict the search result to matches containing the required term in the metadata.
Information: You can combine multiple filters.
