Preparation and installation
This chapter provides information about the requirements of installing and running ELOxc EWS. General ELO server requirements are provided in ELO System Requirements.
RequirementsRequirements
- Windows Server 2008 x64 or newer. ELOxc EWS does not support 32-bit versions of Windows.
- A Windows domain account with the rights and roles described below.
- Microsoft Management Framework 4.0
- Microsoft .NET 4.5 (x64 Full Profile)
- For ELOxc Console: Apache Tomcat 8
Supported Exchange versions
The following versions of Microsoft Exchange are supported:
- Version 2010 (SP2 or higher)
- Version 2013
- Version 2016
- Microsoft Exchange Online (Office 365)
Information: A non-Exchange e-mail server is supported as of ELOxc EWS 10.1 with certain restrictions.
Exchange 2010
A Windows domain account with associated Exchange mailbox and the following roles:
- Send As: This right is required by the service user to send error messages via e-mail.
- Receive As: Required to access the mailboxes.
- User Impersonation: Required to retrieve messages from users and groups. The placeholder [RoleName] can be replaced with any name to assign the role.
- Recommended for trouble-free processing: Full Access and Read Access
Exchange 2013
A Windows domain account with associated Exchange mailbox and the following roles:
- ApplicationImpersonation
- ArchiveApplication
- Recommended: the Send As, Receive As, Full Access, and Read Access Exchange rights.
Exchange 2016/Exchange Online
A Windows domain account with associated Exchange mailbox and the following roles:
- ApplicationImpersonation
- ArchiveApplication
- MailboxSearchApplication
- OfficeExtensionApplication
- UserApplication
- Recommended: the Send As, Receive As, Full Access, and Read Access Exchange rights.
Information: Version.txt, a file provided with the ELOxc installation files, may provide additional requirements/information specific to a particular ELOxc version.
Please note: The ELOxc domain account may only be used for ELOxc. It cannot be a journal account or similar.
Recommended extras
A separate ELO service account should be used exclusively with ELOxc. This will help with logging system events.
A collection of sample action trees is available on the ELO SupportWeb. These can be imported with the ELO Java Client.
