Getting started

Please read the document System requirements in the ELO SupportWeb before you get started. This document tells you which operating system and environment settings you need for ELOxc.

System requirements

Most ELOxc catalog types also require a service user for the environment. With Exchange, this user must also have an own mailbox. The user must have access to the data sources that are to be processed. In addition, the service user must have access rights to the configured catalog interfaces.

Access rights

ELOxc requires an ELO user with administrative rights and an ELOix to access an ELO repository.

You need to enable an HTTP port, which you can configure manually, to allow the ELOxc Console to communicate with the service. If you want to use HTTPS, you must configure this port in the system and import the certificate into the corresponding certificate store.

The ELOxc service user requires the following user roles to communicate with the EWS interface:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2013: ApplicationImpersonation, ArchiveApplication
  • Microsoft Exchange 2016: ApplicationImpersonation, ArchiveApplication, MailboxSearchApplication, OfficeExtensionApplication, UserApplication, Mail Recipients
  • Microsoft Office 365: ApplicationImpersonation, ArchiveApplication, Mailbox Import Export, Mailbox Search, MailboxSearchApplication, OfficeExtensionApplication, SendMailApplication, UserApplication, Mail Recipients

ELOxc tries to use SSL on port 636 automatically for LDAP catalogs. To do this, you need to import the certificate into the ELOxc host's Trusted Publishers store. If LDAP over SSL fails, ELOxc automatically connects to the unencrypted default port.

LDAP, use SSLSSL, LDAP

You also need to import the certificate for the Autodiscover connection into the local certificate store.

Finally, before you use ELOxc for the first time, you need to check whether Autodiscover can resolve mailboxes. You may need to modify the DNS service and add an Autodiscover redirect validation to the ELOxc configuration.

The Local System account can be used to authenticate ELOxc as a Windows service. You also need to set the access rights to the installation directory and the log directory accordingly.
