Search work area

General

In the Search work area, you can search for files and documents in the ELO repository. There are a range of filters to narrow down the search results.

When you open the Search work area, an additional tab, Search tools/Search, appears on the ribbon. The Search tools/Search tab contains, amongst others, functions for searching the keywording, creating search filters, and adding search favorites.

Work area, SearchSearch

Information: With iSearch, only the short name is set by default as the search range for the fields searched. If you also want to search the full text, index fields, extra text, or version comment and version number, you need to activate these options in the Fields searched drop-down menu.

iSearch

The iSearch is the standard search tool in the ELO Java Client. This search uses special search algorithms that make searching easier and more convenient.

iSearch

iSearch offers the following functions:

  • Autocomplete
  • Autocorrect
  • Linking search terms
  • Searches independent of the word form
  • Filtering hits by meta data
  • Highlighted matches
  • Searching for alternative terms

Search filters

You can use different search filters to restrict your search in a specific way. You can find the search filters on the Search tools/Search tab on the ribbon. All currently activated search filters are displayed below the search field. Several filters are already selected by default.

Search, filters

Select the filter settings you require from the drop-down menu. You can see at a glance how many hits there are for each filter setting. For example, for the Date search filter, you see how many documents are located in the repository that date between 2010 and 2014.

You can combine the search filters as required. To remove the search filter, simply click the corresponding button on the ribbon again.

Keywording search

In addition to the iSearch, you can also use the keywording search. The keywording search is restricted to the search in the index fields in the keywording forms. You can find the keywording search on the Search tools/Search tab on the ribbon.

Keywording search

The Search search form is used by default. You can either perform a search via the short name or via all index fields. There are additional filters for the keywording search on the Options tab.

Favorites

You can also save a search as a favorite. This saves time when you perform the same search regularly. You can find the Favorites function on the Search tools/Search tab on the ribbon. Use the Save search function to add the current search as a favorite. Use the Favorites function to search for a favorite, and manage your favorites.

Favorites

If you want to trigger the search as soon as you click a favorite, you can enable the Start search immediately when clicking a search favorite option. This option is located in the Configuration dialog box under ribbon > ELO > Configuration > Technical presets > Display and refresh).

You can also display a favorite on the ribbon. Right-click the favorite and select Show on the ribbon. To remove a favorite from the ribbon, right-click the button for the favorite and select Remove from ribbon.
