Functions of the ELO ribbon
The functions of the ELO ribbon are split up into two tabs: ELO Document and ELO Repository. Similar functions are combined into groups. You can open the function dialog boxes with a mouse click. If you hover the mouse over the function, an explanation of the function (tooltip) is displayed.
ELO document tab
"New" group
Contains the functions:
Document, createFile, insertDocument from template: Creates a new document from the template of an existing document. The documents from the folder you defined as template folder in the configuration are suggested in the dialog box.
New folder: Creates a new folder in the currently selected folder.
Insert files/folders: Inserts files from your computer's file system.
Folders, create newFolders, create newLoad new version: Use this function to load a file from your local file system and file it as a new version of a document in the repository. Using this option on version-controlled documents creates a new entry in the version history and makes this new version the current working version. For documents that are not version controlled, the previous version is overwritten.
New version, loadLoad, new version"View" group
Contains the functions:
Document, open externallyVersion historyDisplay, refreshSorting, changeOpen in read-only mode: Opens the document in an external program.
Document versions: Displays the version history of the selected document.
Sorting: You can set the order for displaying child entries of a repository folder via the drop-down menu. There are seven sorting options available.
Refresh: Refreshes the display of the currently opened folder. Rereads the files in the repository.
Go to: Goes to the filing location of the document in the ELO repository. This function is especially useful for search results and the progress bar in the In use work area.
Version, go toEdit group
Contains the functions:
Check out, documentDocument, check outDocument, editCheck inCheck out and edit: Documents cannot be edited while in the repository. These documents must be checked out for editing.
Edit document: The button is only enabled when a document is in the In use area. If this is the case, the button releases the document for editing.
Check in: Inserts the document back into the ELO repository after editing.
Output group
Contains the functions:
Document, saveDocument, printPrintSave file as: Saves the selected file on the local computer or in the network.
Print document: Opens a dialog box for printer selection.
Send group
Contains the functions:
Document, sendLink, sendSend document: Opens a new e-mail in Microsoft Outlook to send the document as an e-mail attachment.
Send as ELO link: Sends an ELO link to a selected entry in the ELO repository via Microsoft Outlook. The recipient must also have access to the repository to open the link.
Clipboard group
Contains the functions:
ClipboardCopy: Copies entries to the Clipboard.
Insert: Inserts the previously copied entry into a folder in the ELO repository.
ELO repository
Navigation group
Contains the functions:
Navigation, backBackNavigation, forwardForwardBack: Returns to the most recently selected document in the repository tree.
Forward: This function is only available if you have already gone one step back in your viewing history. You can now go one step forward in your viewing history.
Keywording group
Contains the function:
Keywording, openKeywording: Opens the keywording form of the selected document.
Link group
Contains the function:
Document, linkingLinkLink: This function allows you to link entries to each other. You can jump to the links via the Go to function.
Filing group
Contains the function:
Direct filingDirect filing: You can use this function to file selected files directly to the ELO repository. The filing location is the folder currently selected in the ELO repository.
Administration group
Contains the functions:
Rights, assigningReport, for entryPermissions: Assigns rights and keys for the currently selected entry.
Report for entry: Shows the rights and editing history for an entry. This information can also be saved as a CSV file.
View filters group
Contains the functions:
View filtersView filter, newNew view filterView filter, manageNew view filter: Creates a new view filter for the selected folder. A view filter is restricted to a certain part of the repository. The new view filter is inserted above the repository tree as a new tab.
Manage view filters: Manages the view filters created. You can edit or delete existing view filters or create new ones.
Recycle Bin group
Contains the functions:
DeleteRestoreEntry, restoreEdit, undoDelete: Deletes entries in the repository. A deletion marker is set in the repository and the documents are no longer displayed.
Discard document changes: Discards all changes made to documents in the In use work area. The changes to the document will not be saved to the repository.
Restore: Restores the selected entry and all deleted child entries.
Tools group
Contains the functions:
Configuration, openHelpInfoConfiguration: Opens the client's configuration dialog box.
Help: Opens the client's help window.
Info: Display the information on the ELO Client for Microsoft Outlook. This contains the current version number of the client, the name of the current user, and a link to the ELO website.
