Margin notes
Using margin notes, you can comment on documents.
The following options are available for applying margin notes:
- General margin note function
- Personal margin note function
- Permanent margin note function
The margin notes differ as follows:
- General margin note: General margin notes can be created, seen, and edited by all users.
- Personal margin note: Personal margin notes can only been seen and edited by the user who created them.
- Permanent margin note: Permanent margin notes cannot be removed from the document or edited once they are created. They are visible to all users. You can only delete a permanent margin note by deleting the document.
Steps
All types of margin notes are applied in the same way.
1. Select the document you want to apply a margin note to.
2. On the ribbon, click Document > Margin notes.
3. Enter the contents for your margin note and confirm with OK.
Margin notes are displayed on the split bar. If you run the mouse over the margin note icon, the content of the margin note is displayed.
Clicking the margin note icon opens the margin note for editing (or for viewing in the case of a permanent margin note).
A margin note applies to the entire document, and not just the current version.
